We have been loyal customers for as long as I can remember. We are very disappointed to learn Florsheim shoes are NOT made in America. We would rather pay more for shoes than put money in a communist countries pocket.

I bought a pair of Kenmore Wingtips. Wore them 7 days. It rained and my feet got wet. Not because I stepped in deep water!

I bought new wingtips! My feet got wet! Floursheim told me the shoes were never meant to be waterproof!! $400. Dollars for shoes that let your feet get wet on a simple wet downtown sidewalk!

The sole of the left shoe separated from the upper part of the shoe.

I bought these Florsheim Comfortech 20881 size 9D 3 years ago and wore them to my granddaughters wedding. I only wore them for one evening then placed them on my shoe shelf. I put them on today and took one step and the sole of the left shoe came off of the upper shoe part for most of the way of the shoe. I paid a lot of money for these. What will Florsheim do for me?

Shoddy Florsheim Imperial shoes made in China

Updated by user Jun 22, 2019

I contacted the seller. He repeated the description of the product and provided no information on whether the product was actually made by Florsheim.

I contacted Florsheim and they have not responded. I concluded from this that Florsheim is in fact making cheaper shoes in China and labeling them Florsheim Imperial. I have worn Florsheim Imperial shoes for decades but will not buy anything with a Florsheim label again I plan no further action. FYI Buyer beware!

All shoes have a label stating where they were made, frequently on the sole.

If you don't see the bottom of the shoes and there is no description of the material used and where made, there is a reason! You can't count on the label.

I have bought Florsheim Imperial dress shoes for decades. I just bought a pair of Florsheim Imperial Loafers which were made in China. They are mediocre at best and nowhere near the same quality shoes bought earlier. Just another company using a name to sell a downgraded product. I will never buy another pair of shoes from Florsheim.

Florsheim - Shoe quality decline
Florsheim - Shoe quality decline - Image 2

I have worn the Comfortech Riva style shoe for many years. The last 2 pair I have bought the heel has disintegrated.

I thought the first pair with this problem was just bad luck or maybe I had done something to the shoe.

The second NEW pair I bought had the exact same issue after wearing them three times. I can only imagine that the quality or workmanship has declined drastically which is unfortunate since that is how they built their reputation and maintained sales.

I bought a pair of black Florsheim shoes for my wedding. I wore them once after and the heel and part of the sole separated from the shoe.

I paid over $100 for the shoes and their warranty is for 30 days...Will never buy them again ! The shoe repair shop said that they were poorly made and would not be able to fix.

Horrible

In 2012 I bought a pair of Florsheim Comfortech shoes to wear to my brother's funeral and wore them about 9 hours. I may have worn them to my great nephew's funeral in 2013 for an additional 9 hours. Other than the 1 or possible 2 times I wore them they have been in the original box. I put them on yesterday to wear for a couple hours and had to stop and buy new shoes because the heel and sole on these shoes just fell apart. When I got back home I noticed chips of the heel and soles all over my house. With only 9 to 18 hours of use they are useless.

Horrible shoes. The whole soles including heels fell apart.

I have the same problem too. My heel is crumbling apart and I am upset.

Do you get repair or refund from them? I just want to know if they are a responsible company.

Heel is disintegrating

These shoes have on been worn inside and for no reason the heel is falling apart. $112, how could this be. These were a gift. I have never had this happen to any shoe. Reading reviews, I see that this is a common problem. Shame on a company to allow this to happen.

Florsheim Comfortech Bligh Lace Up Derby Mens Shoe the right hand shoe sole is disintegrating with wear of only one day per week for three months. I only walk around shopping centres for one hour each day to stretch my legs.

Work those hours and this is amazing low usage and poor product quality. The uppers are perfect and not a mark and they are cleaned before each use.

Just amazing. Bought from David Jones.

Guest

I have the Comfortech Florsheim lace up shoes and the soles have failed on both shoes similar to other people on this web site. The leather uppers are as new but the soles have disintegrated.

Very little use too.

Florsheim apparently not interested in complaints. I will never buy this brand again.

Guest

I had the same problem. The soles on my shoes disintegraded at my sons wedding.

What happened to the “ Well made Florsheim” shoe?. Talk about embarrassing moments! I left a trail of chunks through out the church, and the reception area, at a five star historic inn in Philadelphia.

They have only been worn about 4 times. I’m just thankful I didn’t fall!

This is my complaint in regards to my favorite shoes from Florsheim .... it is just very upsetting to see what happened to the shoes!!!

I could not believe the heel fell off in chunks, and the toe is also falling away from the bottom of the shoe. The one shoe is still ok, but I am sure the same thing is going to happen with that one too. I can't imagine a company as well known as Florsheim would produce a shoe that actually is junk!!! I feel the company should stand behind their products and at least replace the shoes if they are making defective ones.

I am including a couple photos so you can see what I am talking about. I also have Florsheim Boots that have lasted for years, with no problem, so what is wrong with this favorite shoe that you are producing???? I love these shoes, as they are so comfortable. I would hope that your company will do something about this or I will just keep complaining until someone does.

Thank You for taking my complaint.

Will be looking to hear back from someone.... Artie Mentz 2199 Graham Circle, Dubuque, Iowa Graceland2199@***.com (email address)

I just had the same thing happen to my Florsheim shoes. I am not sure what model shoe it was, but, I think I had worn them only about 7 or 8 times.

I wore them on Saturday 08/24/19 and sure enough the soles and heels just started crumbling! The inside of the shoe and leather look brand new.

If you just saw that you would think they had just come out of the store, but if you saw the soles, you would think I had been walking across shark teeth covered in acid! I too will be writing Florsheim's to see if they will do anything about this!

I have being buying/ using Florsheim Riva for 35 years, now I have this pair that the sole is falling apart crumbling, never had this situation before, now I see I'm not the only one, this are Confortech Riva 11 - 3E Black. What can you do for me? Gus Abella

After wearing a size 8 1/2 shoe for many decades, I now wear shoes sized anywhere from an 8 1/2 to a size 11 depending on the brand, country of origin or style. Shirts labeled Large now fit like my old size medium shirts.

Bottom line is there is little size consistency and the quality of shoes in particular is atrocious. Thus, your only recourse is to buy clothing and shoes when on clearance---not just a "sale"---but at the end of a season when stores want to clear out their inventory and mark items down considerably. That way you always have new cloths and shoes when the ones you are wearing go bad.

Same with kids clothes---buy cheap in advance for them to grow in to. Anyone paying full price or even a "sale" price for these things is foolish.

Same to my Florsheim comforter slip on shoes. The sole nearly wore out at a dinner party, and the shoe was only 3 years old and hardly used.

The material is a cheaper type that does not have longevity. Just last long enough pass the bring back refund time, POS...

Guest

Had the same problem with two pair. Both pairs of shoes crumbled the first time I wore them.

Dont buy cheap shoes. Your older Florsheims held up for years, because they were made by craftsmen, in US shoe factories, with quality US materials.

However, the new Florsheim shoes are likely made in India, or China. They simply are not the same product. American consumers want mediocre products at the lowest cost. Shoe makers traded quality for low price, and you have the results: shoes that don't last.

Your solution is to buy quality USA made shoes, but be prepared for a little sticker shock. You cannot buy a U.S. made men's dress shoe for 100 bucks.

I can t wear cheap shoes, or I get fasciitis.

All my work shoes and boots are US Red Wings, and my dress shoes are from Alden and Rancourt. They are expensive, but wear for years. Other than that, your choices are to throw away your shoes every year, or shop thrift stores for gently worn, high quality shoes.

A friend of mine found a pair of Florsheim Imperial longwings in a thrift store, and paid less than 10 bucks for them. Cleaned, polished, and put to work.

Florsheim - Complaint

Brand new shoes with disintegrating sole. I have not worn them once.

Its like the rubber is meltingI it is disintegrating. The sole is sticky to touch. It also left black marks on the floor of the closet and on the shoe rack and on other shoes. I bought the pair in Dolfin Mall Miami and will take back when I return to the United States in October.

I bought another pair of the same model but black at the same time with no problem.

That is all you need to know.

Why does it have to be over a hundred words.

Imagine being at a funeral when the soles of your shoes start falling apart with every step you take. That is what happened to my husband last week.

By the end of the funeral, the heels and soles were all over the funeral home. It was only the third time he had worn them. I contacted Florsheim via their web site.

They said to send pictures and fill out form and they will replace them. I'll see how that goes.

Me too. I bought 4 pairs of comfortech shoes at the same time, 2 to wear (brown and black) and 2 as spares.

I stored them for a few years and all 4 disintegrated the same day when I tried to wear them, even the ones still in the box that had never been worn before. I sent in the claim form and pictures to Florsheim.

They immediately agreed to replace one pair on the first claim but have not responded to the other 3 claims sent in the same day. I'll wait till next week for a further reply.
